Autumn in the builder's tray, maths and phonics

The autumn leaves are still such gorgeous colours.
We made mushrooms from acorn shells and sticks.
Threading is fun and it is great for our fine motor skills.
We made a story-map to show what we do on Thursday mornings. There was lots of careful thinking to sequence the events in the right order.
Lots of detail is going in! Here K is drawing the tables and chairs in the canteen.

Sorting is an important maths skill. A is working with Karen to sort the leaves by colour to make a pictograph.
There is lots of counting involved. A points with his toe as he counts.
M has found some numbers in the scrap paper tray. She has chosen to cut them out into individual squares, to colour them and to stick them along a strip. We had good fun reading the numbers together.
Using Tagtiv8 in our outdoor phonics lesson was fun.
The children noticed that it was easier to read words that followed the pattern - red, yellow, red. We discussed vowels and consonants.
Lots of fun was had sounding out and blending.
Well done J for making a four letter word and reading it!
