Some snapshots of learning this week

Pattern block work linked to our unit of inquiry. We have been discussing families and here is a pattern block mummy!

Using the loose parts to make self-portraits. These fiddly shapes are hard to pick up and arrange so this activity is also good for developing fine motor control to carefully line up the pieces.

Number writing practice in the shaving foam. Can you write 8 in one go?
 Patterns with colours.
Making up stories with mini-me cut-outs.
It takes a good deal of control to roll out such a long snake in play dough.
Sharing books with friends - one of life's pleasures.
Learning that a little bit of speed makes it easier to balance...
 ...and turn.
 Giving lifts to friends.
Busy on the building site - such great cooperation here.
Finding different ways to fill the Cuisenaire trays.
Her aim was to fill it up with pink rods but when it wasn't possible there was a different solution to be discovered.
Making towers...
 taller and taller.
It was contagious. So we had taller and taller...
...towers!
 With the jewels...
Some builders worked alone and others in a team.
It is fun to practice cutting skills with the wobbly scissors.
Another tray has been completely filled.
