How To Catch A Star by Oliver Jeffers

We have been working on this story by Oliver Jeffers. The link above is a video of the story being read aloud so you can enjoy it at home.
The story has encouraged lots of talk and the children's thinking is going in many directions, including:

  • night and day
  • stars and space
  • the moon and it's changing shape
  • friendship
  • rockets
We have been practising counting down from ten for rocket launches and there has been lot of drawing stars.
The children are enjoying singing this song:

Karen worked with a small group to measure carefully to make a tray full of 'moon sand'. The blue moon sand was fun to play with. Pupils were making pathways through it for the moon buggies and packing it tightly into cake tins to make moon sand cakes.

  1. That sound like a great star-filled week, K2! We should sing that song too, because we've been reading The Man on the Moon and thinking about space too!
