Child-initiated activities

Often we look around the class and see everyone involved and active. It is a privilege to stand back and observe all the different types of learning taking place.
Here is a snapshot an afternoon this week.

Booking holiday role play at the travel agents (which later in the day became a hospital).
Cooperative building of a very long chain (symbolising a worm?)
 Creativity in the travel agents!
Small world play - an action shot.
Engineers/builders setting their own challenges and working with great focus.

A bridge - we went an got our toy troll to live under this beautiful bridge.
A creation to take to a football match.
This one was teacher-initiated but there was lots of enthusiasm for making non-fiction books about worms.

'Estelle, I've hurt my hand!' A wrist bandage and finger splint.
 Fruit prep.
 Making lists.
 A blaster.
Another paper creation. Working with such focus on realising her design. Good scissor skills, planning and imagination to make...

...a hat! Thanks to the model :-)

Ooooh it's a bit wobbly.
