Maths and manipulatives

Exploring some unfamiliar maths manipulatives has been an interesting part of our week.

Cuisenaire rods are a great resource. This week the children have explored pattern which has led into counting activities for some. There is an online Cuisenaire environment on the Nrich website here

We have also explored pattern blocks and experimented with filling the frames in different ways.

There has also been some data handling - we have used surveys to find out about favourite weather. 

It isn't easy to see on the photo but H has created his own survey to find out about people's favourite shape.
