Our new unit of inquiry - weather and seasons

A provocation with ice and thermometers.

It's hard to hold the ice balls because our hands get so cold and hurt.

The ice balls were in different trays inside Estelle's freezer. Some had frozen solid and others had water trapped inside the ice.

We watched the temperature change when we took the thermometer off the ice and held it in our hands. It was a cold day and the outside temperature was 8°C. The classroom was 20°C.
